WELLBORE STABILIZER
NFA-25® Wellbore Stabilizer
NFA-25 is a non-fluorescent, non-asphaltenic wellbore stabilizer that offers a direct alternative pathway to sulfonated asphalt in water-based drilling fluids.
Product information
It is designed to form a tough, compressible, low-permeability filter cake that helps seal microfractures, stabilize shale and salt-gypsum intervals, and reduce HTHP fluid loss and fluorescence-logging interference. Published and field-application materials indicate more than 25 years of application experience. Conventional water-based systems can be evaluated at 1-3%, while salt-gypsum or ultra-high-temperature intervals can be designed at 4-5%.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is NFA-25?
NFA-25 is a non-fluorescent, non-asphaltenic wellbore stabilizer and a pathway to replace sulfonated asphalt in water-based drilling fluids.
What does it address?
It helps improve filter-cake quality, seal microfractures, stabilize shale and salt-gypsum intervals, and reduce HTHP fluid loss and fluorescence-logging interference.
Where can it be used?
It can be evaluated for shale, salt-gypsum, HPHT and environmentally sensitive water-based drilling operations.
How are parameters selected?
Evaluate 1-3% in conventional WBM and 4-5% in salt-gypsum or ultra-high-temperature intervals; final treatment is determined by testing and field design.
